Casa do Alentejo is a cultural center and a meeting point for people from the Alentejo region situated in a palace from the 17th century. While the outside of the former Palacio Alverca is unspectacular, its true beauty lies inside: moorish design including beautiful tiles and a huge patio.
Upstairs is a restaurant that serves typical cuisine of the Alentejo region. We stopped by Casa do Alentejo for lunch and had salads and some Vinho Verde which both were delicious.
But the best part of it is the old ballroom upstairs, it’s incredibly beautiful. We sneaked in after lunch while the waiters were setting the room up for dinner. My photos just don’t do its beauty justice.
Opening hours (daily): 12pm – 3pm and 7pm – 11pm
Address: Rua das Portas de Santo Antão 58, 1150 Lisboa
Metro stops nearby: Restauradores and Rossio
Hi there,
Thanks so much for writing this post. I’d been to this place a few years ago – but someone else was doing the organising, so I didn’t pay attention to the name of it. But I’ve found it on your blog. Your SEO must be good! Anyway, thanks for sharing it.
