The Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles is made of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ahmanson Theater, the Mark Taper Forum and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The “Peace on Earth” sculpture stands in themiddle of its main square, the Music Center Plaza. The sculpture by Jacques Lipchitz was dedicated in 1969 and is surrounded by 280 jets that are systematically shooting water up into the air on a 14-minute cycle.

The fountain was designed by WET Design, a Los Angeles based company who also created the fountain at the Grove in LA, the Revson fountain at Lincoln Center in New York and my favourite fountains in Lisbon at Parque das Nacoes. Here’s a great video of the animated fountain.

  1. Great pics of the fountain… I enjoyed the video although I think they toned it down a tad since the video… but I still enjoy the display and kids certainly get a kick out of running through it.
