When planning my stay in Lisbon and making a draft for every day, the main question is: “Where do I wanna be around sunset?”. And for the evening of my last day in Lisbon I chose the Miradouro de Santa Caterina in Bica.
The Miradouro (viewpoint) got its nickname “Adamastor” from the sea monster in the famous Portuguese poem “Os Lusiadas” by Luis de Camoes, in which Adamastor symbolizes the forces of nature Portuguese navigators had to overcome during their discoveries. The sea monster sits enthroned on the lawn and watches over the nightly shenanigans.
The Adamastor miradouro mostly attracts young people, who come over to have a beer, a smoke and listen to some musicians or the occasional drum circle and enjoy the evening sun and the stunning view over Lisbons rooftops and the Tagus river.
The perfect end to a perfect stay in Lisbon. Até a próxima, Adamastor!
