While I was visiting the five villages of Cinque Terre I stayed in La Spezia, a city with about 100.000 citizens just south of Cinque Terre. The train that connects the villages of Cinque Terre starts/ends in La Spezia, where you’ll arrive coming from the bigger cities like Pisa or Florence.
If you -like me- can’t find any accommodation in Cinque Terre that fits your budget, La Spezia is a budget-friendly and convenient option. I found my hotel on hostelworld (here).
