nyc. manhattan. art underground.

a glass mosaic mural in the 42nd street subway station: “the onset of winter” by jack beal shows a group of people watching a film scene being shot at an subway entrance while it starts snowing.

lisa dinhofer’s “losing my marbles” (2003) at the 42nd street/port authority bus terminal subway station.

this mosaic by edith kramer titled “new york subway station” shows the union square station – despite its location at the entrance for the A and C trains at spring street. source

the 81st street subway station on the upper west side gives you a taste of what to expect at street level: the museum of natural history.

my favourite part of this station are the stairs leading down to a mosaic aquarium.
